“Back & Forth”

As part of The Reactivity Season at the Tristan Bates Theatre this January, we will be hosting an event called Back & Forth, in conjunction with Three's Company.

Three young directors will stage readings of three new plays, on two dates each.  Throughout, the the audience will be invited to provide feedback on the plays and the staging, and to work with the actors immediately after the first date. The following reading will see these changes incorporated into the work.
The plays are :
  • Still Life (directed by James Farrell): seven characters explore meaning against a backdrop of modern London and autumn leaves (10th and 15th January)
  • Reverie (directed by John Kay Steel): a bold exploration of lucid dreaming, the attempt to control and master one's dreams (17th and 22nd January)
  • Later Showers (directed by Yaz Al-Shaater): a poetic one-man show, following acclaimed scratch performances in Buxton and Edinburgh (14th and 21st January)

James comes fresh from directing Miss Julie at the Kings Head Theatre, John has just won the Fringe Report Best Play of 2009, and Yaz - a founding member of Three's Company and interactivity.org.uk - directed the smash hit Auditorium at Edinburgh 2009. The plays are all works written by our very own Tom Crawshaw, award-winning writer and "master of his materials" (The Spectator).

Come along and help shape the direction of three exciting new works you can expect to see in London at some point in the coming years. £5 gets you a ticket to both readings of any one play.
